University of Jordan Student Wins Gold Medal at Ibrahim Moustafa International Wrestling Tournament

The University of Jordan (UJ) student Suhaib Al Marafi, from the School of Sports Sciences and a member of the Jordan Wrestling Federation representing the national team, clinched the gold medal at the Ibrahim Moustafa International Wrestling Tournament held in Alexandria, Egypt. The championship, officially recognized by United World Wrestling (UWW), runs through October 12 and features competitors from nine Arab and foreign countries.

Competing in the 61 kg freestyle category, Al Marafi delivered three decisive victories to claim the title with remarkable skill and focus. The 61 kg division is among UWW’s official competitive weight classes featured in global events.

This triumph marks Al Marafi’s second consecutive gold at the Ibrahim Moustafa Championship, reflecting his steady rise and underscoring Jordan’s growing presence on the international wrestling stage.

The tournament brings together elite athletes from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Russia, Afghanistan, Turkistan, Kazakhstan, Jordan, and Egypt, the host nation. Al Marafi’s victory stands as a proud achievement for both UJ and the Jordan Wrestling Federation, highlighting Jordan’s commitment to fostering sporting excellence and empowering its athletes to shine on the world stage.
