University of Jordan Organizes New Student Orientation for International Medical Students

The University of Jordan (UJ), represented by the International Program, Alumni, and Marketing Unit, organized an orientation day for new international students enrolled in the medical Schools, welcoming them to what UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat described as their “home away from home.”


In remarks delivered on his behalf by Director of the International Program, Alumni, and Marketing Unit Prof. Zaid Obeidat, UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat expressed pride in the students’ decision to join UJ. He called them ambassadors of their countries and a living reflection of the university’s global spirit. He also reaffirmed UJ’s commitment to His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein’s vision of positioning Jordan as a regional hub for academic excellence and cultural exchange.

The event featured presentations from deans and faculty members who outlined the academic requirements, student support systems, and services available to international students.

Vice Dean of the School of Medicine for Graduate Studies Dr. Nafez M. Abu Tarboush reviewed the Doctor of Medicine program and highlighted the School’s achievements and global ranking.
Director of the Guidance and Student Support Office Heart and Mind Dr. Fida’ Zakarneh spoke about the importance of mental wellbeing and community support.
Vice Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Fuad Khasawneh outlined key student services, including healthcare, housing, and extracurricular opportunities that help build confidence and leadership.

Contributors from the Schools of Science, Dentistry, and Pharmacy emphasized the value of inclusivity and collaboration in shaping a dynamic learning environment, while representatives from the UJ Library, Financial Unit, and IT Center introduced the support resources available throughout the students’ academic journey.

At the end of the orientation, students expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and insightful guidance, affirming their pride in being part of UJ’s vibrant international community.
