As part of its efforts to enhance applied research and develop governance and transparency practices, the University of Jordan (UJ) has announced the launch of a research group on "Corporate Governance and Disclosure". This initiative aims to study effective governance mechanisms, analyze their impact on institutional performance, mitigate risks, and enhance investor confidence.
The group's research focuses on the relationship between corporate governance and financial and regulatory aspects, including compliance with international standards, the role of specialized committees, and disclosure of financial and non-financial information, with an emphasis on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
Key research areas covered by the group include the role of boards of directors in improving financial performance, the impact of accounting disclosure on investor decisions, the effectiveness of internal control mechanisms, the influence of corporate governance on sustainability and social responsibility, the relationship between corporate governance and risk management, and the role of legislation and regulatory policies in enhancing transparency and disclosure.
The research group comprises a distinguished team of researchers from local and international institutions, bringing extensive academic and practical expertise in governance and disclosure. Members of the group include Dr. Taha Almarayeh from the University of Jordan; Dr. Radhi Al-Hamadeen, President of Audit Bureau of Jordan; Prof. Beatriz Aibar-Guzmán from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain; Prof. Colin Clark from Victoria University in Australia; Prof. Aly Salama from Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK; Dr. Esraa Esam Alharasis from Mu'tah University in Jordan; and Judy Abuwandy, a graduate student from the University of Jordan.
