The University of Jordan (UJ) has announced the launch of a new research group specialising in contemporary French and Francophone novels, including works classified as "postmodern literature."
The group, named "The Modalities of Postmodernism in the Contemporary French-Language Novel," aims to connect literary issues with contemporary social and cultural realities, providing insights to better understand social dynamics and cultural identity in the modern world.
The group's research focuses on themes such as identity, exile, and individual crises, shedding light on the role of literature in addressing social challenges and promoting cultural understanding. Among its objectives is to offer solutions that bridge literary analysis with therapeutic and social practices, contributing to the support of individuals and communities in adapting to contemporary changes.
The research group comprises a distinguished team of scholars and experts, led by Professor Shereen Kakish, a specialist in contemporary French and Francophone literature at UJ. Group members include Professor Rima Mawloud from the Lebanese University, Professor Abdelghani El Himani from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Morocco, Professor Noha Nemer from the Lebanese University, Dr. Laith Ibrahim from Mutah University, Hind Darwish, director of the L'Orient des Livres / L'Orient Littéraire publishing house, and postgraduate student Kawthar Madi from the University of Jordan.
The group aims to advance research in Francophone literature and bridge theoretical studies with practical realities, contributing to a deeper understanding of contemporary challenges and fostering innovative solutions to benefit communities.
