The University of Jordan (UJ) has announced the launch of a new research group titled “Sport Nutrition Profiling”, aimed at studying the relationship between nutrition and athletic performance using advanced scientific methods.
The group seeks to provide innovative solutions for athletes worldwide through a multidisciplinary approach that bridges science and application. It also aspires to enhance athletes’ physical capabilities, improve their overall well-being, and achieve tangible outcomes in both sports and nutrition fields.
The research focuses on optimizing the interplay between nutrition and athletic performance in areas such as the impact of precise dietary supplements on athletic performance, meal timing and hydration strategies, psychological aspects related to physical condition, effect of Ramadan fasting on athletic performance, eating disorders among athletes, using artificial intelligence to develop personalized nutritional plans and predictive models for athletic performance.
The research team comprises experts and specialists from various countries, including:
• Dr. Analiza Silva: Honorary Professor at the School of Sports Sciences and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon, Portugal.
• Mahmoud Alhajj Hassan: Head of Legal Affairs, Hayel Saeed Anam Group, Saudi Arabia.
• Dr. Haitham Jahrami: Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Arabian Gulf University.
• Dr. Khaled Trabelsi: Associate Professor at the High Institute of Sport and Physical, Tunisia Education of Sfax.
• Dr. Ghareeb Al-Shuwaiar: Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Exercise Physiology, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia.
• Dr. Adam Tawfiq Amawi: Assistant Professor at the School of Sports Sciences, the University of Jordan.
• Dr. Tariq Abdulaziz Al-Khayyat: President of the Jordanian Triathlon Federation.
• Eng. Ahmad Shyyab: Head of Head of food supplements and athletic food, Jordan Food and Drug Administration.
• Philippe Bouedo: Chair of the Technical Committee for World Taekwondo Championships, France.
• Amani Almasri: Graduate student at the University of Jordan.
The research group is supervised by Prof. Hadeel Ali Ghazawi, the coordinator of the High Diploma Program in Sports Nutrition, the first of its kind in Jordanian and regional universities, set to launch in the second semester.
