UJ Students among Team Qualified for Regional AI Competition

​The  OptiGuide team, a team consisting of six university students, three of whom are University of Jordan (UJ) students has won the second round of the Orange Summer Challenge 2023, entitled “Artificial Intelligence of Things,” the OptiGuide team.

The OptiGuide team comprised of Abdul Rahman Al-Marian from the Mechatronics Engineering Department, Muhammad Al-Najjar from the Artificial Intelligence Department, and Firas Obaid from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Jordan, in addition to Younis Al-Azza from Al-Balqa Applied University, and Sally Ashraf from the Hashemite University, and  Raghad Ajamiya, from the Jordan University of Science and Technology.

The OptiGuide team won for designing an innovative visual aid smartphone application powered by artificial intelligence and two wristbands, whereas, the predictions of the artificial intelligence model guide visually impaired users through vibrations.

The winning students expressed their gratitude to Orange for providing this unique opportunity and to Prof. Musa Al-Yaman from the School of Engineering and Prof. Musa Al-Akhras from the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology at UJ for supervising the project.

With this winning, OptiGuide team has qualified for the regional competition as a representative of Orange Jordan, to compete with various qualified teams from other countries.
