French Ambassador to Jordan Lectures at UJ

​As part of a lecture series organized by the Department of French Language and Literature at the School of Foreign Languages at the University of Jordan (UJ), titled: "Francophonie for Better Professional Integration," the French Ambassador to Jordan, Alexis Le Cour Grandmaison, lectured to French Language students about his experience in the diplomatic corps and language learning.

Grandmaison, who learned Arabic during his service as a diplomat, presented his experience and professional career in the French diplomatic corps, and his work as an ambassador for the Republic of France in several Arab countries, highlighting the humorous situations he encountered due to dialectal differences between them.

During the lecture, which was attended by the Dean of the School, Prof. Nahed Emaish, and moderated by Professor of French Literature at the School Isabelle Bernard, he pointed out that he gained a lot of inspiration throughout his service getting to know the culture and traditions of the Egyptian, Lebanese, and Jordanian people. He also mentioned the difficulties he faced in learning the language and encouraged the students to take inspiration from his experience in learning the French language.

For her part, Emaish emphasized the depth of cooperation between the university and the French embassy, pointing out that organizing these lectures aims to provide interactive experiences for the students and enhance their motivation to learn the language.

The lecture was attended by the Chairman of the Department of French Language and Literature, Prof. Mousa Awwad, and faculty member of the department, in addition to the embassy's cultural attaché, Billy Troy.
