The University of Jordan (UJ), represented by its Deanship of Student Affairs and the Development Community & Service Center, in collaboration with the Jordan Public Security Directorate (PSD), organized a panel discussion titled “Through Dialogue We Build a Safe University Environment.”
The event, part of UJ’s Community Peace Awareness Week, aimed to promote a culture of constructive dialogue and mutual respect across campus. It was held under the patronage of Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Safwan M. AlShiyab and Brig. Gen. Jamal AlJazi, Commander of the Capital Region Security at the PSD.
Speakers, including Lt. Col. Omar Al-Khalayleh, Head of the PSD’s Community Peace Center, and Dr.Maisaa Alrawashdeh from UJ’s Department of Sociology, discussed strategies for addressing campus violence through awareness and student engagement.
They emphasized that dialogue strengthens communication, mitigates conflict, and fosters a safe learning environment grounded in tolerance, understanding, and shared responsibility. The session also highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities that enhance communication skills and reinforce students’ sense of belonging.
AlShiyab affirmed that peace within universities is the cornerstone of societal harmony, urging students to serve as ambassadors of ethics, dialogue, and respect.
