The School of Dentistry at the University of Jordan (UJ) organized a special academic event titled “Research Day Away”, bringing together six distinguished honorary professors from renowned international institutions. The event aimed to foster global academic collaboration and promote research excellence.
The participating professors included Prof. Paul Coulthard (UK), Prof. Faleh Tamimi (Canada), Prof. Moamen Atieh (UAE), Prof. Hugh Devlin (UK), Prof. Demetris Tatakis (Cyprus), and Prof. Mohammad Sohail Zafar (Pakistan).
The event was inaugurated by Dean of the School, Prof. Zaid Al-Bitar, who emphasized the significance of international exchange in advancing scientific research. Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies Prof. Mohammad Al-Shayyab highlighted the importance of supporting postgraduate research initiatives.
As part of the event, the School hosted an interactive workshop addressing key challenges facing scientific research at the university, particularly within the dental faculty. Participants, including honorary professors and faculty members, engaged in focused roundtable discussions aimed at producing actionable recommendations through constructive brainstorming.
Key outcomes of the workshop included calls to expand the involvement of undergraduate and graduate students in research, prioritize studies with local and global social impact, and develop effective strategies to secure diverse sources of research funding.
To conclude the event, the Dean, accompanied by the visiting professors and faculty members, toured the school’s new clinical training facility. The guests commended the progress of construction and the modern infrastructure designed to support advanced research and academic training.
