School of Sport Sciences Showcases Latest in Competitive and Health Sports during its Scientific Days

Under the theme “The Latest Scientific Developments in Competitive and Health Sports,” the International Scientific Days of the School of Sport Sciences kicked off at the University of Jordan.

Held under the patronage of University President Professor Nathir Obeidat, the event brings together a distinguished group of academics and experts from over 20 countries, representing local, Arab, and international universities.

The Scientific Days serve as a global platform for experts, researchers, decision-makers, athletes, and postgraduate students to exchange ideas, present research, and explore the latest developments in health and competitive sports.

In his opening speech, Professor Obeidat stressed that sports should be a unifying force—breaking down racism and promoting shared values. He highlighted how sports, when free from greed and self-interest, enrich our world through creativity and beauty.

He also noted that the field of sport sciences is rapidly evolving which demands that today students, who are tomorrow’s educators, is equipped with future-ready curricula and the most relevant tools and knowledge.

For his part, the Dean of the School of Sport Sciences, Professor Hassan Al-Saud announced that the School has achieved a remarkable leap of 105 positions in the QS rankings for the academic year 2023–2024, climbing from 335th to 230th globally. He expressed hope that the School will continue to rise, aiming to be among the world’s top 150.

The opening session was attended by university vice presidents, deans, academic and administrative staff, students, and honorary professors from Arab and international institutions, along with key figures from the sports sector.

The ceremony also included a recorded video introducing the School of Sport Sciences. On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition was inaugurated showcasing student posters and publications, highlighting their research during the Scientific Days.
