The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, emphasized during the annual meeting of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) held in Islamabad, UJ's openness and aspiration to strengthen cooperation with various universities.
The meeting was attended by higher education leaders from prominent universities in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Following the conclusion of the meeting, which was also attended by the Vice President for Scientific Schools, Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaki, and Vice President for Humanities Schools, Prof. Nahed Emaish, Obeidat stated: “UJ is keen to establish effective partnerships that drive efforts toward advancing higher education, exchanging ideas, and expanding them beyond the borders of universities.”
The participants committed to enhancing collaboration among universities in critical areas such as science, technology, health, and higher education to address the challenges faced by the Islamic world.
During the meeting, COMSTECH presented a two-phase action plan aimed at improving university rankings through educational reforms. The plan seeks to bridge the gaps in the global vision of universities in OIC member states. The proposed strategy focuses on developing and enhancing Institutional Quality Assurance Frameworks (IQAF) and building capacities to improve international university rankings.
The meeting also outlined a 2025 action plan centered on inter-university collaboration through capacity building, restructuring the education sector in Palestine during the post-war, joint projects, and establishing permanent mechanisms for sharing expertise and knowledge.
This dialogue marked a significant step toward addressing common challenges and enhancing the global standing of universities in OIC member states.
