The University of Jordan (UJ) Hospital on Monday launched a series of activities marking World Sterilization Week, observed annually on October 9, with the participation of medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff.
Held under the theme “Improving Indicators to Enhance Sterilization Performance Efficiency,” the event aims to raise healthcare workers’ awareness of the importance of sterilization and its key role in ensuring patient safety, as well as to promote the effective application of quality indicators in this vital field.
The four-day event features lectures and educational workshops organized in cooperation with supporting companies, highlighting best global practices and performance measurement methods in sterilization.
Hospital Director General, Prof. Nader Al-Bsoul, emphasized the vital role of sterilization in ensuring patient safety and improving the quality of medical services, stressing the need to enhance the efficiency of sterilization units and develop the skills of staff working in this field.
Al-Bsoul noted that the hospital administration attaches special importance to sterilization as part of its efforts to elevate the level of healthcare services and foster a safe environment for both patients and staff. He also highlighted the importance of coordination between the Sterilization Division and the Infection Control Office to ensure adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety across all departments.
The Operations and Sterilization Division of the Nursing Department organized the activities. The opening ceremony was attended by Director of the Nursing Department Suleiman Al-Rabab’ah, Assistant Director of the Infection Control Office Dr. Zakaria Abdul Rahim, several nursing, technical, and administrative staff members, as well as representatives from supporting companies, including Experia, German Quality, and Al-Wafi Group.
This celebration reaffirms the Hospital’s commitment to applying the highest standards of quality and safety in the sterilization of medical equipment, devices, and operating rooms, and its continued support for efforts to advance this vital sector in line with the latest global developments in healthcare.
