The University of Jordan (UJ) School of Medicine participated in an international workshop dedicated to supporting medical students’ clinical experiences.
The event was held at the University of Patras in Greece from September 29 to October 2, 2025, under the European Union’s Erasmus+ program through the CaP4Preceptors initiative, a capacity-building program designed to strengthen the skills of clinical preceptors.
The project uses a Training of Trainers(ToT) approach to equip hospital preceptors with advanced supervisory techniques, drawing on international best practices to improve the quality of medical education. Launched in 2023, the fourth phase of the initiative involves all Jordanian public medical schools, the Ministry of Health, and European partners. The University of Minho in Portugal developed the preceptors’ curriculum, while the University of Patras oversees quality assurance and evaluates the program’s impact. The initiative aims to train over 95 medical professors as preceptors and certify more than 120 clinical supervisors, enhancing students’ professional competencies on both national and international levels.
Representing UJ, the School of Medicine team was led by Director-General of Jordan University Hospital Prof. Nader Mohammad Al-Bsoul and Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research Prof. Yaser M. Al-Rayyan. The team also included Dr. Asma Basha, Dr. Jumana Hanna Baramki, Dr. Fedaa Thekralla, Dr. Enas Al Zayadneh, Dr. Kais Al Balbissi, and Dr. Marzouq Amarin. They conducted two main sessions: “Effective Communication with Students” and “Training Students on Clinical History Taking,” aiming to strengthen students’ clinical and professional skills.
UJ’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to advancing medical education, building healthcare capacity, and supporting the growth of Jordan’s medical sector locally and internationally.
