The University of Jordan (UJ) has announced a significant achievement in the QS World University Rankings 2026, securing a position of 324th globally and First locally. This marks a historic rise of 44 places from its previous ranking, reinforcing its status as Jordan's leading university and strengthening its international presence.
This accomplishment comes as a direct result of the university's sustained institutional efforts and strategic ambition to enhance its academic and research performance.
UJ President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, expressed his immense pride in this milestone. He dedicated the achievement to His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein, as well as to the Jordanian people.
"This global recognition is a testament to our collective efforts and strategic planning, which prioritise quality and excellence in all our endeavours," Prof. Obeidat stated. "It reflects a distinguished image of higher education in Jordan on the world stage," he added.
The university's rise in the rankings is supported by notable improvements across several key QS indicators.
In Academic Reputation, UJ ranked 239th globally, showcasing growing international esteem for the university's quality of education and research.
The university also advanced significantly to 194th globally in Employer Reputation, indicating strong and increasing confidence from the global job market in the calibre of UJ graduates.
In Graduate Employability Outcomes, it climbed to 105th globally, highlighting the tangible success and real-world impact of UJ alumni.
Regarding the International Student Ratio indicator, UJ rose to 309th globally, underscoring the university's success in creating a diverse and attractive environment for international students.
The university’s research impact saw considerable growth, with the International Research Network indicator improving to 543rd globally, complemented by a significant increase in research citations by 3.8%, which signals the expanding global visibility of its scholarly output.
Obeidat concluded by emphasising that this progress is the direct result of a focused strategy. "This achievement is rooted in our strategic investment in faculty development, the launch of innovative academic programs, fostering international collaborations, and our unwavering focus on research excellence and teaching quality," he remarked.
He also acknowledged the crucial role of sustained national support for higher education and reaffirmed UJ's profound commitment to its academic mission and its responsibilities to the nation and the global community.
