Slovak Research Team Visits UJ’s Chemistry Department

The Department of Chemistry at the School of Science hosted a research team from the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The visit was part of the Erasmus+ exchange program supported by the European Union.

The visit aimed to promote international collaboration, exchange research expertise, and explore the role of chemistry in addressing environmental and public health challenges.

The visiting team delivered a series of advanced lectures attended by Dr. Kamal Sweidan, Vice Dean for Scientific Research, Dr. Murad Al-Dhamin, Head of the Department, faculty members, and students. 

Topics included Biomonitoring of heavy metals in tree leaves from Italy, Water sampling techniques using SPE and GC-MS, Analysis of volatile compounds in Arabica coffee, Detection of bio-based plasticisers in water using GC-MS/MS.

Several graduates of the department also presented applied research on the role of analytical chemistry in pharmaceutical quality and manufacturing, highlighting the department's academic excellence.
