As part of its efforts to advance scientific research in oral medicine, the University of Jordan (UJ) has officially launched the research group "Oral Health Disparities and Opportunities."
The initiative aims to develop innovative solutions to address challenges affecting oral health in Jordan and explore modern techniques to enhance the effectiveness of oral healthcare services.
The group's research focuses on advanced data analysis derived from the Jordanian community and using machine learning technologies to predict future health conditions.
The research team comprises distinguished scholars including Prof. Najla Dar Odeh, Prof. Faleh Sawair,  Prof. Osama Abu Hammad from the School of Dentistry; Dr. Adham Alsharkawi from the School of Engineering; and Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel from the School of Medicine, at the University of Jordan.
The group also comprises international scholars:  Dr. Mohammad Hamdan Alkhraisat from BTI Biotechnology Institute, Vitoria, Spain; Dr. Sebahat Kaya from the University of Mainz, Germany; Dr. Basma Al Qudah from the Jordanian Ministry of Health; Pharmacist Noor Muhannad (Sana Pharma); and Dr. Douleh Alfataftah (Resident in Oral Medicine and Special Needs Dentistry higher speciality program, University of Jordan Hospital).
The group aims to provide evidence-based solutions to support decision-makers, by collecting community data, conducting clinical trials to test innovative treatments for oral diseases, and utilising artificial intelligence to predict future health conditions.
Additionally, it seeks to enhance collaboration with the Ministry of Health to propose interventions to address treatment needs, challenges, and inequalities, contributing to evidence-based health policies that improve oral health and promote sustainable development locally and internationally.
