Under the patronage of the University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, the School of Pharmacy on Sunday launched a Career Readiness Program for its students, with attendance by experts from the pharmaceutical sector and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry.
The program involved the renovation of the "Simulation Pharmacy," an educational setting designed to enhance students' skills and provide a practical learning environment, supported by Hikaya Pharmacy.
During the event, Obeidat emphasized the importance of preparing students for the labor market, contributing directly to enhancing the competitiveness of graduates, refining their skills, and enabling them to succeed and innovate in their professional careers.
Addressing the students, Obeidat noted that while they will be able to envision their path to the future after graduation, the future's contours might not always be clear or straightforward. He encouraged them to pursue continuous learning and build their capacities to succeed in their professional journeys.
Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Prof. Rula Darwish, stated that the Career Readiness Program aligns with the university's commitment to producing distinguished graduates equipped for the job market. She explained that the school has designed a comprehensive and unique program that considers the diverse nature of the pharmacy profession and incorporates the skills and knowledge required for graduates to excel and increase their employability both locally and internationally.
Obeidat inaugurated the renovated "Simulation Pharmacy," which was restored by Hikaya Pharmacy. This facility serves as a realistic model of community pharmacies, providing practical training for pharmacy students. It allows them to apply classroom learning in a practical setting, enhancing their understanding of pharmaceutical concepts and enabling them to develop skills in medication preparation, patient counseling, and drug management, thereby preparing them more effectively for the job market.
Darwish noted that the project reflects the school's successful partnerships with the distinguished pharmaceutical community. She commended the collaboration with alumni pharmacists Hamza Al-Daqour and Ahmed Al-Khatib and their partners, who, through Hikaya Pharmacy, transformed the Simulation Pharmacy into a state-of-the-art educational facility that mirrors the real-world pharmacy environment.
In a related context, UJ signed a cooperation agreement with Hikaya Pharmacy under which the company will train 25 students each semester and provide workshops to support students' post-graduation employment prospects by participating in career days organized by the school.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the university by its President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, and on behalf of the company by its Director, Pharmacist Hamza Al-Daqour.
