The University of Jordan (UJ) has risen in the THE Arab Universities Ranking 2024, securing first place locally and ninth in the Arab world, a seven-position improvement compared to last year. The list of the top ten universities includes five universities from Saudi Arabia, two from the UAE, and one each from Jordan, Qatar, and Egypt.
UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat expressed pride in this advancement, emphasizing that it reflects the efforts made to enhance the university’s global standing. He described it as the result of the university’s strategy, which focuses on quality and innovation in education, scientific research, and community service.
Obeidat highlighted that the improvement in the university’s rankings aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance curricula quality, develop students' communication skills, and improve their professional and soft skills to better prepare them for the job market. He also noted UJ's focus on producing impactful research and improving educational and research environments to foster innovation and creativity.
The THE Arab Universities Ranking, which evaluated more than 300 universities this year, assesses institutions based on five main criteria: teaching and learning quality, availability of an exceptional educational environment, research productivity and quality, research impact measured by citations and global influence, and international outlook, including collaborations, student and researcher mobility, and industrial impact through partnerships with productive sectors and applied research.
Obeidat reaffirmed UJ's commitment to improving its performance across all criteria, enhancing its educational and research activities, and developing students' capacities to achieve further progress in global and regional rankings.
With its rich history and distinguished faculty, UJ continues to make steady progress toward its vision of becoming one of the world’s top universities, leveraging its strong academic legacy and well-structured strategic plans.
