UJ's School of Agriculture Obtains ABET International Accreditation

The School of Agriculture at the University of Jordan (UJ) has obtained accreditation of the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission (ANSAC) of ABET  for its Bachelor’s programs in Horticulture and Crop Science and Plant Protection.

With this, the number of internationally accredited programs in the school has risen to four, following the accreditation of the Bachelor’s programs in Animal Production and Food Science and Technology by the same organization last year.

ABET is one of the leading organizations in ensuring the quality of academic programs in science, technology, engineering, and agriculture through standards that guarantee the trust and quality of these programs.

Thanks to ABET accreditation, students, employers, and society can trust that the accredited academic programs meet global standards and quality, preparing graduates to enter the global job market.

UJ President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, commended the achievement, emphasizing that it reflects the university's commitment to the highest academic quality standards and enhances its international standing. He also pointed out that this accreditation opens broad horizons for graduates of these programs in both local and global job markets and promotes academic and research collaboration with global educational institutions.

He added that the university is continuing its efforts to obtain international accreditation for the rest of its programs, in line with its vision to provide distinguished education that meets global standards and contributes to serving both local and international communities.

ABET's standards cover several key aspects, including students, educational program objectives, student outcomes, continuous improvement, curriculum, faculty, facilities, and institutional support.

In its pursuit to achieve global standards for all its programs, the number of internationally accredited programs at the university from reputable global entities has risen to 55 across 11 faculties, with more than 15 programs from other faculties currently in the process of obtaining international accreditation.
