Joint International Conference on Business and Technology (ICBT) kicks off at UJ

​The University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Nathir Obeidat inaugurated on Wednesday the 10th International Conference on Business and Technology (ICBT), jointly organized by the School of Business, the EuroMid Academy of Business and Technology in Turkey, and Ahliya University in Bahrain, in presence of Senator and Chair of the Financial and Economic Committee at the Jordanian Senate, Suhair Al Ali.

Obeidat emphasized the conference's significance as a platform for interaction between academia, industry, technology experts, and innovators. He highlighted the opportunity to generate ideas and shape them into innovation and creativity, driving positive change in the world of business and finance. He called for collaboration between academics and industry professionals to prepare students for practical thinking and to build partnerships between business owners and researchers. He stressed the importance of adaptability, creative thinking, and calculated risk-taking as keys to growth and development, with technology, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence as the main drivers of change and increased productivity in societies.

Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ahliya University in Bahrain, Prof. Abdulla Yusuf Abdulwahab Al Hawaj, expressed his happiness with the collaboration between the three academic institutions, particularly the prestigious University of Jordan. He emphasized the importance of investing in education and cooperation among Arab countries to achieve global standing and contribute to the advancement of civilization. He mentioned that Ahliya University in Bahrain is the first private university and holds the tenth rank in education quality according to the Times ranking.

Dean of the College of Business and Finance at Ahliya University in Bahrain and Vice President of the conference Prof. Allam Hamdan, provided an overview of the college, established in 2003, its ranking, and its AACSB international accreditation. He expressed his hope that the conference would initiate cooperation in scientific research and academic exchange.

President of the Euro-Mediterranean Academy of Business and Technology and Vice President of the conference, Dr. Bahaaeddin Alareeni, explained the choice of the University of Jordan as the host for the conference due to its rich history, scientific standing, academic excellence, and research contributions. He emphasized that the conference represents an opportunity to work together towards an innovative and sustainable future, reflecting the importance and interdependence of the business and technology sectors.

Dean of the School of Business at the University Prof. Ra’ed Masa’deh Bani Yassin highlighted the school's pursuit of excellence in preparing professionals in finance, business, and information systems. He mentioned the School's achievement as the first among public universities to obtain AACSB accreditation for all its programs, as well as its ranking in the QS World University Rankings. The accounting and finance specialization and the business administration specialization achieved outstanding results with a ranking within the 251-300 range globally. The economics specialization entered this ranking for the first time, while the university ranked fifth in business administration at the Arab level. In the field of information systems, the information systems specialization was ranked within the 100-150 range.

The conference includes several dialogue and scientific sessions, continuing for two days, both in-person and online, with the presentation of 340 research papers and the participation of 25 keynote speakers representing prominent figures from government ministries, the private sector, decision-making centers, university presidents, and distinguished editors of scientific journals to share their expertise on important topics in finance, business, and research.

The conference's keynote speakers include Dr. Abdullah Youssef Al Hawaj, Founder of Ahliya University in Bahrain; Jordanian Minister of Investment Khaloud Al Saqqaf; Senator and Chair of the Financial and Economic Committee in the Jordanian Senate Suhair Al Ali; Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) CEO Dr. Ezzedine Kanakrieh; Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission Dr. Adel Bino; General Manager of Acwa Power in Jordan Dr. Muayyad Samman; and President of Tishk International University Dr. Sultan Abu Arabi, among others.

The conference discusses various tracks, such as applications of artificial intelligence in business and industry, technology and digital transformation, sustainable entrepreneurship and technology, contemporary issues in management, education, and accounting, women and technology studies, technology and environmental sustainability, technology application, emotional intelligence and performance, digital transformation and financial innovation, and entrepreneurship and gender.
