Held under the patronage of the University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Nathir Obeidat, the 22nd Alumni Forum of the School of Medicine celebrated two distinguished milestones: the silver jubilee of the Class of 2000 and the academic excellence of the top graduates from the Class of 2025.
The event brought together university leadership, faculty, students, and alumni in a heartfelt gathering that bridged the university’s rich legacy with its forward-looking vision.
In his opening remarks, Obeidat conveyed a message of pride and appreciation from His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, expressing their recognition of the school’s achievements and the university’s advancement to 324th place in the QS World University Rankings, a message he received in a phone call from the Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court.
Obeidat credited the university’s international reputation to the dedication of its school and the excellence of its graduates, urging attendees to take pride in their affiliation with UJ and to remain active contributors to its continued success.“Restore our nation’s glory with your knowledge,” he told the graduates. “Let your ambition and creativity pave the way for progress.”
Dean of the School, Prof. Ayman Wahbeh, emphasised the School’s global standing and the outstanding achievements of its alumni, noting that 113 graduates were accepted this year into competitive residency programs in the United States. He also highlighted the College’s continuous efforts in curriculum development, innovation, and alignment with international standards.
Representing the Class of 2000, Dr. Abdulrahman Shdeifat spoke of the deep bond between alumni and their school, describing the event as a celebration of loyalty and shared pride.
The ceremony featured a visual presentation by Dr. Suha Ghoul, showcasing the accomplishments and leadership roles of the 2000 cohort both locally and abroad. Dr. Fadi AlQaisi followed with a nostalgic photo reel that captured cherished university memories.
A group of alumni who were unable to attend sent heartfelt greetings via live video, expressing their longing for reunion and wishing continued success for their peers.
Dr. Marzouq Amarin, who moderated the event, reflected on the significance of honouring both legacy and present-day achievement, praising the top-performing students of the Class of 2025 as future leaders of medicine and research.
In closing, Obeidat and Wahbeh presented honouring shields to the achieving students from both classes, in addition to recognising former deans and faculty whose efforts helped shape the distinguished legacy of the School.
