University of Jordan Hosts International Math Kangaroo

The University of Jordan (UJ) represented by the Information Technology Center hosted the International Mathematical Kangaroo, an international mathematical competition, with the participation of around 1,200 students from various public and private schools across the Kingdom.

Director of the Information Technology Center at the University, Prof. Loai Alnemer, affirmed that the University provided all necessary logistical and technical facilities, including the readiness of the building and preparation of the appropriate conditions to ensure the smooth running of the exams. He pointed out the commitment of the relevant staff to all exam regulations and procedures to guarantee a safe and supportive environment for the students.

Alnemer added that UJ provided the computerized systems used to conduct the exams under the supervision of the Center's staff and the King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, in cooperation with the competition's committee. This contributed to organizing the exam process according to the highest technical standards.

The International Mathematical Kangaroo is considered one of the largest international mathematics competitions, held in more than 97 countries around the world. It began in 1980 in Australia before the official establishment of the Kangaroo Without Borders organization in Paris in 1995.

Around seven million students participate in the competition annually worldwide. The competition aims to enhance students’ mastery of mathematical concepts, develop mathematical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities in line with 21st-century requirements, as well as to connect mathematical concepts to daily life and provide a stimulating and enjoyable educational environment that highlights and nurtures mathematical talents on a global scale.
