University of Jordan Launches “Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language” Research Group

​A new research group under the title: "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language" has been launched at University of Jordan (UJ) with a focus on addressing methods of teaching Turkish to non-native speakers using a scientifically advanced approach.

It seeks to provide innovative solutions for teaching Turkish worldwide through a methodology that combines research and application. The group's objectives include enhancing language learning efficiency, promoting understanding of Turkish culture, and achieving tangible results in the fields of language and education.

The team’s research emphases on developing Turkish language education through the following areas: Evaluating and Developing Teaching Methods, Curriculum and Educational Material Development, Integrating and Enhancing Technology in Language Learning, Addressing Linguistic Challenges and Error Analysis, Cross-Cultural Communication and Integration, Developing Comprehensive Assessment Tools.

The team comprises experts and specialists from various countries, including:

• Prof. Mustafa Balcı, Department of Turkish Language, Faculty of Literature, Istanbul University, Turkiye.

• Dr. Mehmet Utku Oden, Turkish Language Division, School of Foreign Languages, University of Jordan.

• Dr. Selmin Kuş, Turkish Language Division, School of Foreign Languages, University of Jordan.

• Ferhat Tamkoç, Education Coordinator at Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center in Amman, Jordan.

• Zainab Khalil, PhD student and researcher in Turkish language teaching, Gazi University, Ankara, Turkiye.

• Baraa Ahmed, Researcher and specialist in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, Uludağ University, Bursa, Turkiye.

• Haya Abdelhalim: MA student in the Department of Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, Kocaeli University, Turkiye.

• Tulin Haobsh: Master’s student in the Turkish Language Department, Gazi University, Ankara, Turkiye.

The research group is supervised by Dr. Bagdagul Musa, a founding member of the Turkish Language Division at the University of Jordan. Dr. Musa emphasized that the group aspires to become a scientific reference contributing to the development of Turkish language education on both regional and international levels while fostering cultural understanding between diverse communities.
