University of Jordan, Environment Ministry Sign Agreement for Water Resources Development Project

The Ministry of Environment  and the University of Jordan (UJ) signed a cooperation agreement on Monday to launch the "Development and Sustainability of Water and Pastoral Resources" project at the university's Muwaqqar Station for Dryland Research.

Funded by the Ministry, the agreement was signed by Minister of Environment Dr. Muawieh Radaideh and UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat.

Obeidat said the project is a significant step in strengthening the partnership with the Ministry to promote sustainable development and protect natural resources, adding that the initiative would improve local communities' environmental and economic conditions.

Radaideh said the project aims to develop and sustain natural resources at the Muwaqqar Station, positioning it as a model for developing and preserving natural resources in the Jordanian Badia.

It would be a hub for transferring effective technologies to rehabilitate Badia pastures. This objective aligns with the community action plan created by the Jordanian Badia Rehabilitation Programme, he said.
