The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, led a field tour at the university today, coinciding with the return of students to campus on the first day of the new academic year. UJ welcomed its new students, as well as those continuing their studies.
During the tour, accompanied by the university's vice presidents, Obeidat inspected the readiness of the schools for receiving students. He met with several students, congratulating them on the start of the new academic year, and urged them to participate actively in various student activities to develop their skills. He emphasized the university’s commitment to preparing graduates capable of competing in the local and international job markets.
Obeidat listened to the students’ feedback during the tour. He pointed out that the university is keen to provide all necessary support to its students and to overcome any obstacles they may encounter during their studies in order to create a comfortable and safe learning environment.
He welcomed all students and congratulated the new ones on their admission to the university. "We are happy to welcome both the new students and those continuing their studies. The university is thrilled by their return and their presence here, and we are hopeful that they will do everything to develop their intellect, knowledge, and skills," he stated.
Obeidat added that this year, the university implemented a curriculum requiring 9 credit hours in English language skills, 6 credit hours in Arabic language skills (taught in a manner similar to the English language courses), and 9 credit hours (3 for digital skills and 6 for soft skills). This is aimed at raising the level of the students and enhancing their ability to compete with their peers in local, regional, and global job markets.
He noted that these changes in the different programs did not affect the total number of credit hours required by students, nor did they incur any additional costs. Rather, they are meant to prepare university graduates for the job market, equipping them with personal skills, including soft skills, sufficient technical skills, and specialization-related skills.
Obeidat expressed gratitude to the academic and administrative staff, as well as all students, and voiced his pride in all those who have graduated from this university. He wished for the university to rise to the highest levels under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah.
For their part, the students appreciated the university's interest and commitment to improving the services provided to them, expressing their pride in the university and its administration's dedication to conducting such field tours, which reflect the university’s commitment to maintaining constant communication with the student body.
