The University of Jordan (UJ) was commended by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) for the distinguished participation of its students in the Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project, a World Bank funded national initiative that aims to enhance digital skills and expand employment opportunities for Jordanian youth in the ICT sector.
UJ president Prof. Nathir Obeidat received the visiting delegation, which included Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Samira Al Zoubi, Digital Education and Skills Development Manager for the YTJ Project at MoDEE Amira Qarqash, Chairman of DigiSkills Association (DigiSkills Jordan) Dr. Alaa Ensheiwat, and Training Specialist of the YTJ Project Omar Al Hijazi. Vice President for Scientific Schools Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaky and Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Financial Affairs and Digital Transformation Prof. Ziad Hawamdeh also attended the meeting.
The visit recognized the university’s leading role in the program, with around 3,000 students participating, among the highest figures recorded at Jordanian universities.
Obeidat emphasized that such partnerships are essential to equipping graduates for the evolving digital economy and reinforcing Jordan’s position as a regional hub for ICT talent.
Al Zoubi underlined the Ministry’s commitment to training and employment programs implemented with DigiSkills Jordan under the YTJ Project, noting that these programs equip students and graduates with internationally recognized digital and professional qualifications aligned with labor market needs.
Building on this collaboration, the YTJ Project, launched in 2020, is implemented by MoDEE in partnership with the World Bank and DigiSkills Jordan to improve digitally enabled income opportunities and accelerate Jordan’s digital transformation.
