The University of Jordan (UJ), through its School of Sharia, held a seminar for postgraduate students titled “Artificial Intelligence and Its Application in Sharia Research: Technical Aspects and Ethical Guidelines,” exploring practical ways to leverage modern technologies in advancing Islamic studies research.

Deputy Dean of the School of Sharia Prof. Mohammad Abu Lail moderated the seminar, which was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Mansour from the Department of Islamic Jurisprudence and Its Foundations. Mansour traced the evolution of AI in Islamic scholarship and reviewed prominent contemporary studies in the field.

Emphasizing responsible innovation, he highlighted how AI can enhance Sharia research by contributing to the broader development of Islamic sciences and aligning them with modern scientific progress. He urged postgraduate students to employ AI tools for ideation and theory-building while upholding rigorous academic integrity, including proper acknowledgment whenever AI-generated content is used.

He also presented the officially approved UJ guidelines on the ethical use of artificial intelligence, endorsed by the Deans’ Council on September 9, 2025, and emphasized the importance of adhering to these standards to ensure trustworthy and accountable academic practice.

The seminar witnessed active participation from students, who commended the School’s commitment to addressing emerging topics that enhance research competence and enrich the quality of Islamic scholarship.
