University of Jordan Radio Launches New Broadcast Cycle with Renewed Format

The University of Jordan (UJ) launched today, Sunday, the new broadcast  cycle of UJ Radio on frequencies (94.9) and (93.3) FM, with a renewed format aimed at developing its content, enhancing its interactive role in serving students and the university community, and strengthening its presence as an educational and cultural media platform that supports the university’s national mission.

UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat affirmed that the radio station represents one of the university’s main arms in spreading knowledge and promoting a purposeful and responsible media message, emphasizing the role of university media in building awareness and supporting students in expressing their ideas and developing their personalities.

Obeidat said that media today is a crucial partner in shaping awareness and thought, noting that UJ Radio serves as a platform reflecting the university’s identity and translating its values through national, cultural, youth-oriented, and intellectual content. He added that the university is keen to keep the radio a free space for students to express themselves, innovate, and actively engage in educational and social issues.

He pointed out that the new program cycle comes as part of the university’s approach to developing its media tools and enhancing its academic and cultural mission in line with the needs of the current stage and the expectations of the new generation.

The new cycle includes a wide range of programs that combine knowledge, student and youth issues, culture, arts, heritage, politics, and society, featuring distinguished media professionals and talented students.

Among the featured programs are: “Sawt Al-Urduniyya (The Voice of UJ), Kursi Al-Thaqafa (Chair of Culture), Hakeem (Wise), Muhami Difaa’ (Defense Attorney), Fikr wa Fan (Thought and Art), Tis’een Daqiqa (90 Minutes), Marafi’ Al-She’r (Harbors of Poetry), Muna’taf Siyasi (Political Turn), Wa Tawasaw Bil-Haqq (And They Advised One Another in Truth), Seera wa Maseera (Biography and Journey), Marahib Ya Balad (Welcome, Homeland), Burj Al-Sa’a (Clock Tower), Laylat Samar (Evening Gathering), Uloom Ahlna (Our People’s Science), Talabatuna (Our Students), and Sawt Al-Arab (Voice of the Arabs), which highlights the experiences and voices of Arab students studying at the university.

Director of the Media, Public Relations, and Radio Unit Dr. Rakan Abu Orabi said that the new broadcast cycle was designed to be closer to students, the university, and society, noting that it includes new and updated programs developed according to a contemporary media vision.

Abu Orabi added that UJ radio strives to deliver balanced and engaging content that respects listeners’ intellect, reflects youth interests, and provides a real space for dialogue, while addressing issues related to higher education, universities, and students, in addition to highlighting culture, arts, and heritage.

He noted that the new take-off comes within the university’s ongoing efforts to keep pace with media advancements and enhance the role of UJ Radio as an educational, cultural, and interactive platform that contributes positively to the university environment and empowers students with communication and creative expression skills.
