University of Jordan Launches Research Group on "Innovations in Dental Education"

As part of its ongoing efforts to advance medical education and foster academic innovation, the University of Jordan (UJ) launched a new research group titled “Innovations in Dental Education”. 

The initiative aims to lead the development of innovative teaching methods in dental education, keeping pace with rapid global transformations in science, technology, and modern learning approaches. The group also seeks to build an advanced educational model based on evidence-based research, combining modern clinical methodologies with cutting-edge digital technologies. 

The research group includes several distinguished faculty members from the University of Jordan’s School of Dentistry, including Dr. Yara Oweis, Dr. Alaa Hussein Sabrah, Dr. Sanaa Aljamani, Dr. Islam Abd AL Rahem, and Nour Mu'taz Abdul Hadi from the Department of Restorative Dentistry. It also includes Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering Prof. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh, reinforcing the group’s interdisciplinary approach.

The group’s research collaboration extends to regional and international researchers, including Dr. Upoma Guha, Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry for Adults at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA, who focuses on modern teaching methods through the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in dental education.

Also included is Dr. Mohammad Khalid, Director of the Residency Program in Prosthodontics at Aga Khan University Hospital in Pakistan, who leads clinical education and training programs and serves as an examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

The group is committed to strengthening partnerships with local and international academic and healthcare institutions, reflecting its focus on multidisciplinary research collaboration. It further aims to involve graduate students in high-impact research projects, including Dr. Noor Abdel Hadi from the School of Dentistry, as well as Prof. Ayah Abdulla Al-Asmar, who is the Chair of the Jordanian Dental Association Board, and a specialist in conservative dentistry.
